Weather information and useful converters

The weather is pleasant in Tuscany, though cold in January and February. Even in mid summer, Montalto, which is on a hilltop at an elevation of about 1000 ft (330 m.), always has a refreshing breeze so that nights are never too hot.

Here is this week's weather forecast for our nearest town, Castelnuovo Berardenga.

You will find average monthly highs and lows for Siena in the table further below.

Our guests find Tuscany ideal from April to October. We can have occasional rain even in midsummer. We advise bringing a warm wrap for the evening, even in summer, and slippers as the tile bedroom floors can be cold.

Houses are equipped with window screens and most have fireplaces (for which we provide the firewood). Nearly all have hot-water radiators, but local energy-saving laws dictate that houses not be heated above 70 F.
